Community Outreach

In addition to our mission of helping area residents facing the challenges of cancer, we also provide community outreach to increase awareness of and education about cancer.

Smoking Cessation Classes

Lung cancer accounts for the most cancer-related deaths in both men and women according to the American Cancer Society.

The Cancer Association has trained facilitators for the Freshstart® smoking cessation program.

The program consists of four one-hour sessions. Each session contains the most effective elements for your success-but the most important element is YOU and your dedication to quit.

In addition, we offer on-site cessation classes to local businesses and schools. These classes provide employers the option of a smoke-free environment and offer employees a convenient location to attend class without leaving the job site.

Health Fairs, Speaking Engagements, Education Talks

The Cancer Association will attend your health fair at your church/business/civic organization. In addition to health fairs, health education and awareness talks are offered to the community by our health educators.

If you would like to schedule an event, please contact our Executive Director, Glaydeane S. Lee, at glee@cancerassociation.org or 864-582-0771.

Glaydeane with Girl Scout

Glaydeane S. Lee, Executive Director, recently accepted a donation of 49 hand-made turbans from Ms. Claire Poole. Claire headed this project up with her fellow Girl Scouts.
