Welcome
At the heart of the Cancer Association of Spartanburg & Cherokee Counties are three simple sentiments: caring, nurturing and giving. Three very comforting words when you or someone you love you love hear the words that can strike fear in your heart, "You have cancer."
Unfortunately, one in three women and one in two men will contract cancer in their lifetime. And when they do, we're here to help.
The Cancer Association of Spartanburg and Cherokee Counties is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation dedicated to providing quality of life services to area residents facing the challenges of cancer in our communities through screenings, education and direct services. We are a local organization; all funds raised remain entirely in Spartanburg and Cherokee counties. No reimbursement is received from Medicare, Medicaid or any insurance company, nor is the client charged for services provided. We are the only area organization to provide these services without any cost to our clients.
We provide critical supplies to our clients with cancer, including nutritional supplements, bras and breast prostheses, ostomy supplies, home care supplies, wigs, gas cards for treatment transportation, help with cancer medication costs, loan of hospital equipment-- such as beds, walkers, commodes-- and much more. Of course, these are just a few examples of the ways we serve cancer patients, and we invite you to read about more of our services, here at this site.
In addition to our mission of helping area residents facing the challenges of cancer, we also provide community outreach to increase awareness of and education about cancer.
First organized in 1967 as FACT (Fight Against Cancer Today), the Cancer Association provides services to all cancer patients in need, without regard to race, creed, color, sex, national origin or financial condition. In 1999, the name was changed to the Cancer Association of Spartanburg & Cherokee Counties, Inc. to better define the broad range of the service area.
